Assignment No:1 (Scenerio) Mohammad Hammad Ali(07-0198)

Scenario for Exemplifying Semantic Web

We want to develop a semantic web application by which we can easily buy and sell the cars effectively.

This application will be actually consisting of two main applications:

Let’s say in our case we have a Cell phone agent called as Kasper which is basically connected to a web browser.

The Buy application

In this application you would tell your agent which is basically cell phone software which will take your specifications for a car e.g. model, car brand, location and approximate price. This information is basically stored in an Rdf File.

When you will submit your query you will be returned with a list of cars their models and prices as required by your specifications. This information would be returned from a web spider continuously searching the web for RDF files.

Suppose you want to buy a car which is in Islamabad and it should be about 20 kms away from your house. Your agent will first determine the location of your house and search through the various websites as it is connected to Google search website it will automatically search cars websites according to your specifications and it will actually give you a list of your desired cars within the range of 20kms from your house.

The Sell Application

In this application you would like to auction your car .You will have to enter the information about the car e.g. Car’s picture its model its condition and price. Then you will also have to enter your personal Information e.g. your address, your name and email id. When you entered this information it will be stored on an Rdf file made available on the web. In this application your agent which is connected to Google web search will search some car sites and put your car’s information on these sites for auction. It will also return you the names of the persons who are actually eligible to buy your car by searching these web sites.

Implementation

It is not very likely that you will be able to sell your car just by putting your RDF file on the Internet.

The "ISA" and "IBA" applications above will have to be developed by someone. Someone will have to build a search engine database for all the items, and someone will have to develop a standard for it.

It might be eBay, it might be Microsoft, it might be Google, or someone else.
